Ballaarat (1882)
A 10x8 negative. A slightly distant port near broadside view, taken from just ahead of the beam, of the passenger/cargo liner Ballaarat (1882) at anchor in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. She has a brig rig and an awning is rigged abaft the mainmast. Tilbury is in the background. The emulsion has lifted and the original glass plate negative is unprintable. A 10x8 polyester sheet film duplicate negative was made after the emulsion started to peel and shows some cracking. A 10x8 photographic print was made in 1950 before the emulsion started to lift and break and will provide a reasonable image.
