Carthage (1881)
A 10x8 negative. A port very near broadside view, taken from only just ahead of the beam, of the passenger/cargo liner Carthage (1881) at moorings in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. She is shown as built with four masts and with three yards on each of the fore, main and mizzen masts. She has an awning rigged abaft the main mast and is flying the blue peter. The stern of a tug is in the left foreground. Tilbury is in the background. An NMM copy negative of a photographic print made from the Gould whole plate glass negative G1885 which has been broken and discarded.
