Carthage (1881)
A whole plate negative. A fair quality port quarter view, taken from fine off the stern, of the passenger/cargo liner Carthage (1881) at moorings in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. she is shown as built with four masts and with three yards on each of the fore, main and mizzen masts. An Awning is rigged abaft the mainmast and she is flying the blue peter. A laden spritsail staysail barge is on the left bound up and another spritsail staysail barge is bound diwn in ballast on the right. Tilbury is in the background.
