Cayo Bonito (1901)

A 12x10 negative. A very close starboard bow view, taken from only just to starboard of the stem bar, of the general cargo steamer Cayo Bonito (1901) alongside a berth in Tilbury Docks. She has damage to her upper stem and to the starboard side of her bow above water as a result of a collision with the passenger/cargo liner Galician (1900) in the Thames Estuary near the Girdler light vessel on Friday 12 May 1911. The Galician (1900) was outward bound for Table Bay and the Cayo Bonito (1901) was outward bound for Tampico when they came into collision in fog and both returned to Gravesend. The Galician (1900) was repaired in the East India Docks and the Cayo Bonito (1901) was repaired at Tilbury. She sailed for Tampico 11 June 1911 after repairs were completed.
