Ceylon (1858)
A whole plate negative. On board the passenger cruise ship Ceylon (1858) while moored in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. The photographer is on the port side of the forecastle looking aft and to starboard over the forward well deck to the bridge and the short funnel. A telegraph is on the port side of the bridge and sides of beef are hanging on racks on the front of the port bridge wing supporting deckhouse. A crewman is standing in the doorway of the supporting deckhouse looking up at the camera. Tilbury is in the background.
