Christian IX (1874)
A whole plate negative. A port side view, taken from ahead of the beam, of the general cargo steamship Christian IX (1874) at anchor in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. She has a 3 masted topsail schooner auxiliary rig. She has her houseflag at the foremast her name pennant at the main and is making her international call sign at the mizzen. Some spritsail barges and Tilbury Fort Watergate are in the background. Negatives Numbers G1494, G1495 and G1512 were taken on the same occasion.
