City of Sparta (1897)
A 12x10 negative. A starboard side view, taken from ahead of the beam, of the passenger/cargo liner City of Sparta (1897) at anchor in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. She has a small amount of deck cargo on number 2 hatch and a tarpaulin is rigged above number 3 hatch. Tilbury Hotel and docks are in the background. The premises of Rait & Gardiner are immediately on the right of the hotel and a Fletchers sign is further to the right.
