Contest (1883)
A 12x10 negative. A slightly distant starboard near broadside view, taken from just ahead of the beam, of the screw tug Contest (1883) at anchor in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. Six members of the crew are on deck looking towards the photographer. Her boat is on a painter astern and she is flying her name pennant. Two spritsail barges are at anchor off the Tilbury shore and Tilbury Fort Watergate is in the background.
