Daring (1876)
A whole plate negative. A slightly distant port near broadside view, taken from only just ahead of the beam, of the paddle tug Daring (1876) at anchor in Gravesend Reach, River Thames, possibly on her first arrival at Gravesend. Her paintwork is pristine and she has a selection of flags hoisted. A pilot jack is on the forestay, name pennant at the foremast top, three flags including the L and N signal flags are at the fore gaff , two flags including the M signal flag are at the main gaff and the red ensign is at the stern. There is a six pointed star symbol low down on the side of the funnel. Tilbury Fort Watergate is in the background.
