Duke of Sutherland (1873)
A whole plate negative. A fair quality starboard near broadside view, taken from just ahead of the beam, of the passenger/cargo liner Duke of Sutherland (1873) at moorings in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. She has two yards on her foremast and is flying the blue peter. A large number of people are on board. Tilbury Fort is in the background. The original negative has peeled badly and been discarded and a safety sheet film has been produced from a 12x10 photographic print made in the 1950s.
