A whole plate negative. A port very near broadside view, taken from only just ahead of the beam, of the passenger/cargo liner Thames (1881) at moorings in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. She has two yards on her foremast and is flying the blue peter. Awnings are rigged over her bridge and poop. The passenger ferry Earl of Essex (1877) is alongside and skiffs are in the foreground. Tilbury is in the background.
