A whole plate negative. A slightly distant starboard broadside view of the cable ship Electra (1885) in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. She has a canvas dodger on her accomodation ladder and an awning is rigged aft. She is flying the houseflag that was adopted in 1902 for the Eastern Extension Australasia & China Telegraph Co Ltd. Tilbury is in the background. The top right corner of the negative is broken off.
