Gwalior (1873)
A whole plate negative. A starboard broadside view of the passenger/cargo liner Gwalior (1873) at moorings in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. she has an auxiliary barquentine rig with three yards on the foremast and she is flying the blue peter. Awnings are rigged over the forward welldeck and aft of the mainmast. Tilbury is in the background. Negatives numbers g1864 and G1865 were taken on the same occasion. The original glass plate negative has peeled off and been discarded. A safety sheet film copy negative has been produced from a 12x10 photographic print made in the 1950s from the original negative.
