A 12x10 negative. A starboard near broadside view, taken from ahead of the beam, of the passenger/cargo liner Rome (1881) at anchor in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. She is depicted after lengthening, rebuilding the accommodation and alterations to her machinery. There are no yards on her masts. The tugs Uncle Sam (1849) and Mercia (1889) are alongside her. Tilbury is in the background.
