Merkara (1875)
A whole plate negative. A port near broadside view, taken from only just ahead of the beam, of the passenger/cargo liner Merkara (1875) at moorings in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. She has additional accommodation amidships, there are two yards on her foremast and she has an awning rigged aft. She is flying the blue peter and a "Ring" company twin funnelled tug is alongside her starboard side forward. A swim headed, stumpy rigged spritsail barge is alongside forward.
