Orient (1879)
A half plate negative. A starboard very near broadside view, taken from only just ahead of the beam, of the passenger/cargo liner Orient (1879) at moorings in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. She has short funnels and yards on her fore and main masts and has been refitted with a topgallant forecastle and a turtleback poop. The passenger ferry Tilbury (1883), seen from off her port broadside, is alongside the liner. Tilbury is in the background. A copy of a Gould photographic print from a negative not in the collection.
