Saint Ronans (1881)
A whole plate negative. A fair quality starboard broadside view of the general cargo steamship Saint Ronans (1881) at moorings in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. She has a course and double topsail yards on each of her fore and main masts. The paddle tug Uncle Sam (1849) is alongside amidships. The paddle tug Vigilant (1874) is on the right and the bow of the paddle tug Powerful (1857) is in the left foreground. Tilbury is in the background. the original negative has peeled off and been discarded. A safety sheet film negative has been produced from a 12x10 photographic print made in the 1950s.
