Scanderia (1866)
A whole plate negative. A starboard near broadside view, taken from just ahead of the beam, of the cable ship Scanderia (1866) at moorings in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. She has a 3 masted rig with two yards on the foremast. Tilbury Fort Watergate is in the right background and the Coast Guard Watch Vessel CGWV 28 (1847) is on shore in the left background. The original glass negative has been broken and discarded but a 12x10 photographic print produced in the 1950s prior to the negative being broken is available. A 10x8 safety film negative has been made of this print and has taken the number G1331.
