A distant port near broadside view, taken from abaft the beam, of the passenger/cargo liner Socotra (1897) under way in Gravesend Reach, River Thames, passing Tilbury Docks bound up. She is flying a pilot flag and her accommodation ladder is rigged amidships. A stumpy spritsail barge is under sail in the background.
