Children's birthday parties at the National Maritime Museum

Important information for visitors

Until summer 2025, there is a new visitor route at the National Maritime Museum while we carry out essential improvements to the Museum's roof. Most galleries will still be open as normal, and special exhibitions are currently free for all visitors. However, the Great Map and AHOY! will be closed for the duration of the works. Birthday parties at the National Maritime Museum are on pause due to roof renovation work.

The AHOY! Children's Gallery will be closed from 11 March 2024 until Summer 2025 while work takes place.

The spaces beneath the glass roof will be closed to visitors. This includes the Great Map area and café, central galleries and the AHOY! Children’s Gallery. For a full list of affected areas, click here.

While we know families will miss the Great Map and AHOY! Gallery, we hope they’ll be able to make the most of The Cove, the new outdoor playground located next to Greenwich Park, and the All Hands Children's Gallery on the second floor of the Museum.

In the meantime, we regret we are not able to offer parties or reserve tables for large groups at any Royal Museums Greenwich cafés.

Please keep an eye on the website for further updates - we should begin to take new birthday party requests in the summer (TBC).
