On Saturday 10 September we will be opening up the ship model stores at No.1 Smithery, The Historic Dockyard Chatham.
We shall be looking at models in the collection that range from the Egyptian Funerary boat (1850 BC, see image top left) to more recent oil and liquid gas container ships like Helios:
We will also view oddities and rarities like the circular ship Novgorod, the paddle steamer that delivered the largest diamond in the world to Queen Victoria (see image top right), and a submarine Welfreighter that could be disguised as a fishing boat:
The tours will take place at 11.30am and 2.30pm. They are free of charge but numbers are limited so please book in advance. If you wish to visit other sites at the Historic Dockyard a charge for admission applies.
