04 Oct 2017
At the National Maritime Museum on October the 7th we are transforming ourselves into a Fun Palace. To do this we are inviting our local communities to run events, put on workshops and performances! It’s going to be epic.
The Royal Museums Greenwich crew didn’t want to be left out of the fun: If you are at the National Maritime Museum on Saturday 7th October you will have the chance to go behind the scenes and meet Museum staff who will be testing out new ideas and running interactive workshops! This is your chance to go behind the scenes and try your hand at working in a Museum.
See Things, Sea Things
Nav and Michelle are busy working with all sorts of nautical odds-and-ends! Meet them to see some of our handling collection and help them build a seashore of intriguing artefacts for a new gallery opening next year!
Tracer
Hans is designing a new digital game for the Museum and he needs your help to try it out. All we’re allowed to say is that it involves a mysterious adventure, a sonar scanner and strange sound effects hidden around the Museum. The rest is top secret!
Up Telescope!
The Octonauts are coming to visit the National Maritime Museum on the 7th, therefore join Clare to learn about periscopes and help her build a submarine!
Transit of Venus
Brendan from the Royal Observatory Greenwich will be running an interactive workshop about astronomy. You will have the chance to test a new gallery activity for the first time and learn how early explorers watched the planets.
Everyone An Artist
Our visitor experience team are a talented bunch. Meet them in our pop-up art gallery where they will be displaying their artwork and inviting you to take part in a life-drawing session!
Maritime Memories Machine
Join Roshni in her quest to collect maritime memories! Hope aboard and share your memories to be part of a gallery opening next year.
