Are you interested in arts and heritage? Would you like to produce a series of workshops, events, and/or resources to support career development and grow professional networks for other young people?
Each year, the Royal Museums Greenwich pays 15 people aged 16-24 living, studying or working in Greenwich to co-produce part of the public programme.
You'll meet heritage professionals in curatorial, events and engagement, and collaborate with other young people to design a programme – all the way from initial idea and research to logistics and delivery.
What will the Young Producers do?
You’ll meet weekly, in person, with support from Royal Museums Greenwich's Youth Programme Producer and project assistant.
We'd like this work to shape the new youth programme launching in Autumn 2025. The programme will include a series of monthly online and in-person talks and workshops, designed to demystify working in arts and heritage and guided by network members' feedback and interests.
Working as a team, you’ll design what the final programme looks like and manage a budget to make it happen. Some example ideas:
- Networking events
- CV advice surgery
- Administrative and finance workshops e.g. 'how to register as self-employed'
- Informal catered shared meals, where you can troubleshoot cover letters, hunt for opportunities, motivate each other to finish that long-winded application form, and express successes or frustrations!
- Talks by industry experts
- Application-writing toolkits
- Wellbeing creative workshops
Explore the 2023 Youth Collective event, Descending the Runway.
What will you get from this programme?
- You will be paid at a rate of £13.85 per hour, paid monthly for every session attended
- Travel expenses, up to £10 per return journey (must provide receipt)
- Refreshments at sessions
- Tickets/entry costs for any off-site visits for research
- Improved skills in event planning, budget management, and paid work experience in a heritage organisation
- Network and meet other young people interested in a career in arts and heritage
- Access to museum staff, collections and resources, including behind the scenes access

Access & additional information
If you haven’t worked in a museum before, transferable skills picked up over time from previous positions – such as charity or volunteer work, assisting in a shop or café or office work, and your lived experience – are also relevant and valuable.
If you have any questions about the Young Producers programme or application process, including if you’d like to discuss adjustments*, please contact us.
*A 'reasonable adjustment' is a change to remove or reduce the effect of an element of a role or recruitment process which puts disabled employees/job applicants (as applicable) at a substantial disadvantage compared with employees/applicants who are not disabled.
We welcome applications from all individuals, including those who are currently underrepresented* in the heritage sector.
*Underrepresented in this context includes, but is not limited to, those who identify as being from working class backgrounds; unemployed and/or have received welfare benefits; D/deaf; B/blind; disabled; neurodivergent; LGBTQIA+; and from a Black, Asian, or Ethnically Diverse background.

2. Tell us about where you're currently at in your career, work, or studies. Do you have specific experiences and skills you'd like to share or learn?

Prompt! You may wish to answer this questions drawing on your own lived experience and/or drawing on your experience of participating in or producing other projects.
This programme seeks to address systemic barriers to career opportunities in heritage, which disproportionately impact those currently underrepresented in the sector.
