In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
At a Court Martial held aboard the ROYAL KATHARINE on the 13th April 1696 at Blackstakes, Captain James Gother, Commander of the said Ship and C-in-C of HM Ships in the River Thames and Medway, Court President, William Herbert, Carpenter of the St. PAUL Fireship, was sentenced to forfeit six months Pay to the Chest at Chatham for several misdemeanours committed by him. A Copy of this sentence is enclosed.
We direct you to cause the six months Pay to be stopped out of the Carpenter's Wages and paid to the Chatham Chest accordingly.
