Treasury department Washington DC May 24th 1873 J.H. Hartley. In relation to the services rendered by Captain Joseph Penrice of the British Ship COMADRE to the officers and crew of the American Schooner ELLEN AND CATHERINE. It appears that these persons were in danger of being murdered by the Mexicans when Captain armed his crew for the protection of the sufferers and fed them for 10 days.
