Letters include reference to his service on the following vessels at the following locations: HMS MODESTE at Yokohama, Kobe, Kagosima and Nagasaki, Hong Kong; HMS TAMAR; HMS RALEIGH; HMS HIMALAYA; HMS COMUS. Also a letter written from Salisbury Lodge, Clifton (to Aunt Emily); and another from the Naval College at Portsmouth Dockyard.
