In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
We have received Mr Burchett's letter of yesterday with papers from Ireland, which were sent to their Lordships from Secretary Turnbull. You intimate that we have given no account of the victuals for 2000 men bound for Barbados, in answer to which it was 28 January before we received their Lordships order on this. We had to write to Plymouth, Barnstaple and Bristol to know whether ships could go to Ireland and Barbados. We find that Plymouth and Barnstaple can do nothing, but at Bristol ships may be procured provided the freight be paid as soon as the goods are ordered. We are endeavouring to take up ships there but none are willing to go unless they are paid beforehand. Signed by the Commissioners of the Victualling Board.
