In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

Several of His Majesty's stores have been clandestinely carried away out of His Majesty's yard to the house of one Thomas Grimmett Smith by trade. For several years he has received spikes and nails with the King's mark on them, which he strikes out and then disposes of them to other persons. He has also received sheet lead. (Jane Cox, John Cox, John Paster and William Hill confessed the fact before the Commissioners of the Navy). Signed M C.
