In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

Enclosure: Letter in which Lieutenant Richard Wilkinson relates that in 1696 the Admiralty was prepared to dispense with his accounts as they had been lost in the ANGEL GABRIEL Prize; but when he subsequently attended at the Pay Office he was only paid from the time he was put aboard the Prize, and not for his previous time in the DOLPHIN. While in Ireland he had received Orders to detain some Mutineers pending their Court Martial for absconding with the GABRIEL. This he duly did while also securing victuals for them. He then proceeded to London to await further Orders in expectation of returning to the DOLPHIN, however a Mr Rogers was assigned to the ship in his stead and Wilkinson was required to await further Orders. No further Commission has been forthcoming and he has been left with no support. He applies for reimbursement of his outlay on behalf of the Mutineers and for consideration to be given for the time he has spent without employment. Signed by Richard Wilkinson; Navy Lieutenant.
