Enclosure: Extract of a letter from Captain Lambert Commander of the NEWCASTLE in the Downs in which he expresses concern for the necessary delay incurred in cleaning ships bound for the Straits and the consumption of Provisions already received while this is being carried out. He suggests that matters could be hastened should the ships in question be cleaned at Sheerness.
