Certificate of Arthur Lysaght's service on board HMS SYBILLE, 30 April 1799.
Certificate dated 30 April 1799 and signed by Lieutenant Hardyman, vouching for the character of Arthur Lysaght and confirming that he was serving as a midshipman on HMS SYBILLE, and had previously served as a 1st class volunteer from 30 June 1795 until 1 March 1797. A note next to Hardyman's signature states that 'Captain Cooke's wounds would not allow him to put his signature'. A further note on the reverse of the certificate, written by Thomas Henry Lysaght, Arthur Lysaght's son, states that Captain Cooke was badly wounded while commanding HMS SYBILLE in action against the FORTE in Balasore Bay.
