Letter from Lord St Vincent to Admiral Blankett regarding the promotion of Arthur Lysaght,dated 6 July 1801, returned unopened on account of Admiral Blankett's death.

Letter dated 6 July 1801 from Lord St Vincent to Admiral Blankett, in which he writes in favour of the promotion to the rank of lieutenant for Arthur Lysaght, whom he describes as a nephew of Mr Pybus, and also asks that Lysaght be permitted to return to England on urgent business. The letter refers to the 'unfortunate fate of La Forte, in which ship he [Lysaght] was serving'. A note added to the letter by Arthur Lysaght's son Thomas Henry Lysaght states that LA FORTE was wrecked in the Red Sea on 24 June 1801. The letter was returned, unopened, by Admiral Rainier, as Admiral Blankett had died, and was subsequently forwarded by Mr George Parker, Secretary to Lord St. Vincent, on 18 July 1802 (see LYS/5/3).
