Letter to Thomas Alexander regarding a meeting with the Governor of Madras, 1801.
Letter to Captain Thomas Alexander discussing his instructions for securing vessels in the Madras roads under Danish or Swedish colours, and asking him to meet with Lord Clive, Governor of Madras. The letter was sent with an extract from the dispatch of Henry Dundas, Secretary of State for War, communicating the probable event of a rupture between Great Britain and the northern powers. Signed by George Buchan, Military Secretary at Fort St. George, dated 1 May 1801. At this time Alexander was in command of HMS BRAAVE (captured 1796).
