Journal kept by John Richard Alexander on HMS HIBERNIA, 1846-1848.
Notebook containing (part two) of a journal kept by Alexander on HMS HIBERNIA (1804), flagship of Vice-Admiral William Parker on the Mediterranean station. It covers the period 18 December 1846 to 18 April 1848. The end pages have ink drawings showing the mouth of the River Tagus, and a water lifting machine near Lisbon. There are also colour illustrations of the royal arms of Portugal and signal flags.
