Volume of private letters of George Rodney Mundy, 1860-1869.
Copies of letters relating to Mundy's appointments as second in command in the Mediterranean, and later Commander-in-Chief on the North America and West Indies station. The first part of the volume has letters sent from HMS HANNIBAL (1854) at locations including Gibraltar, Palermo, Naples and Beirut, between 26 March 1860 and 19 August 1861. This is followed by a journal covering the voyage of the ironclad ship HMS ROYAL ALFRED (1864) from Portsmouth to Halifax between 24 April 1867 and 23 May 1867. Then there are letters sent by Mundy from Halifax, Bermuda and the West Indies, the last dated 4 August 1869.
