The captain turns Barlow off the ship without paying his wages. Barlow manages as best he can on shore, but there are few visiting English ships and little trade apart from gold.
Barlow physically restrains the captain, who turns him off the ship without paying him any wages. Barlow manages as best he can in a place called Acheine, but it is a place with little trade. They are governed by a Queen and their main wealth is the gold which can be found locally, some of which is made into coins.
