In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
We direct you to cause the ROYAL PRINCE to be brought into the Double Dock at Chatham, to the head of the Dock, and a survey taken of the works needed to be done to put her in a full repair, sending us a copy of the survey together with an Estimate of the Charges of these Works. You are also to cause the MARY ROSE and the Bomb Vessel SALAMANDER to be fitted out for Sea for Channel service, to be manned with their highest complement of Men and victualled for four months or as much as they can conveniently stow.
For the speedy dispatch of the MARY ROSE you are to order the entering of Men presently on her, for forwarding her Works in setting her Masts and putting up her Rigging while she lies in the Dock. We further direct you to cause the FANFAN to be laid up at Portsmouth, and her Officers and Company ( except the Commission and Warrant Officers) to be turned over to the YORK now refitting there. Also the Fireships MERCHANT CADIZ, CHARLES and HALF MOON, now at Deptford, be fitted out for Sea for service in the Channel as soon as may be, but that no Men be entered on them till further Orders.
