In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
Your letters of 23 February and 13 March advised us of the agreement made with the following persons for building 27 the new ships. Viz with Mr John Winter at Southampton, Mr William Wyatt at Burseldon (between Southampton and Portsmouth), each of them to build within 12 months one 3rd Rate and one 4th Rate in the following year, at the rate of £11-2-6 per ton for 3rd Rates and £10-2-6 for the 4th Rates. With Mr Treame for building at Old Paul near Hull, one 3rd Rate at £11-5-0 per ton and to carry at his own cost all masts, rigging and Boatswains and Carpenters stores. We approve of the agreement made and direct you o put this into execution.
