In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board

A Court Martial held on board HMS WINDSOR at Spithead on the 16 May 1696. Present - Captain Thomas Warren Commander of HMS WINDSOR and C in C of HM Ships bound for the East Indies. Present Captains Bicks, Kirby, [Deans], Kerr, Acton, Wager, Wakolin, Adamson, Daniel, Jesson, Delavall, Browns, Redman, Dyer. All duly sworn pursuant to an Act of Parliament. Ben of HMS DREADNOUGHT was accused of speaking treason against HM and His Government, in that he very much pitied Sir John Friend and Sir William Perkins traitors executed at Tyburn as thy were not the persons who were to assassinate the King but only assigned to bring in King James again. Samuel Middleton was found guilty and sentenced to be dismissed his ship and never employed by the Navy again and forfeit all pay due to him and 6 months imprisonment. [Author unknown].
