Letters to Margaret Goodrich, 1816.
Two letters from Dobbie to his wife’s cousin Margaret Goodrich:
(1) Letter addressed to Miss Goodrich at East Cowes, Isle of Wight, dated 26 January 1816. Dobbie discusses his arrival at Portsmouth to take command of the frigate HMS PACTOLUS (1813), family news from Saling, his recent suffering with gout and a shoulder injury.
(2) Letter addressed to Miss Goodrich at Spring Hill, Cowes, Isle of Wight, sent from Grove Cottage, Saling, Essex, dated 21 October 1816. Dobbie sends news of the birth of another daughter (Caroline Goodrich Dobbie) to his friends in the Isle of Wight.
