Boteler's work immediately prior to this event, including: a note to Captain Ommanney HMS ALBION from Admiral Beauclerk 20 March 1826; two plans of the Burlings and Bay of Peniche taken from Admiralty charts, with soundings by J.H. Boteler, HMS LYRA, June 1826; a drawing by Capt. Graham Gore, of Belem Castle while a midshipman in the LYRA, with a note saying he later died with Sir J. Franklin’s Expedition in the Polar Seas; signatures of young Turks (for six weeks messmates of Capt. J.H. Boteler in the ALBION), 1827; six copies (prints, 1 drawing) of a Plan of Battle and Harbour of Navarin, 20 October 1827 by J.H. Boteler; a page of translation by Mohammed Effendi, possibly of the Egyptian logbook (BTL/1/2/1); various sketches, poems and songs commemorating the battle.
