Letter from Rear Admiral Sir Charles Ogle, Commander in Chief of HM Ships employed on the North American and Newfoundland stations, to Commander George Scott of HM Sloop CHAMPION ordering him to proceed to the coast of Newfoundland to protect the fisheries and prevent illicit trade. He is instructed to pass by the Mingan Islands, Cape Ray and if possible ascertain geographical positions for the Hydrographers of the Admiralty.
