Receipts for the PERSEVERANCE No.11.

Bundle of receipts for expenses of the East India Company ship PERSEVERANCE (1801), from January 1812 to December 1812.

Included is a receipt for the payment by Captain James Tweedale of a composition fine and law costs incurred by the Crown at the Court of Exchequer, dated 7 January 1812. This was for the deficiency of two chests of tea and an excess of one pipe of wine in his ship’s cargo, with the Commissioners of Excise having consented to compromise the prosecution on payment of these sums.
