Typescript copy of the lecture ‘Navigation in War 1914 - 1918’, given by Commander Lewis John Pitcairn-Jones at the Royal Naval Staff College, Greenwich, on 11 November 1938 (56 pages plus appendices, including charts). It examines some of the practical problems that confronted navigating officers during the First World War, giving examples of warships lost by shipwreck. With a letter from Pitcairn-Jones addressed ‘Dear Willie’, dated 15 November 1961.
