Account of the wreck of the cutter LOUISA in a typhoon, July 21st, 1841.
A slim volume containing the details of the wreck of LOUISA 1841 due to two typhoons between Macao and Hong Kong. The ship contained Captain Charles Elliot, Commander Sir Gordon Bremer, Lieutenant G C Fowler, Mr William Morgan (Secretary), Lord A Beauclerk, Mr Owen and Mr Lena twenty other, men, boys and servants. Though they survived the wreck they were captured by the locals and escaped only upon undertaking to pay $3000 for their liberation which included a Portuguese ship and Lascars.

Two bad typhoons had occasioned much damage to the transports and men-of-war; and, during one of them, on July 21st, Elliot, with Bremer, who had returned to China in the Queen with the powers of joint plenipotentiary, had been wrecked in the Louisa, cutter, between Macao and Hong Kong on a piratical island, whence they had escaped only upon undertaking to pay $3000 for their liberation.
