Photocopy of abstract concerning Josiah Seymour's memoires. 12 pages. Josiah Seymour was a sailor during the long eighteenth century and wrote his memoirs during his time imprisonned at Verdun. He recounts past voyages on various ships as well as more current events, such as the movement and passage of Kings, Queens, and other notables through Verdun (usually on their way to or from Paris), including the Emperor Napoleon and EmpressJosephine, the Kings of Westphalia and Saxony, and the British Comissary. The work also allows insight into the conditions and life of English prisonners in France, particularly those of the depot at Verdun.
