The individuals listed in this document are all from the Rotterdamsche Lloyd passenger/cargo ship KOTA NOPAN (1931), captured by the German raider KOMET near the Galapagos Islands on 17 August 1941.

Administrative / biographical background
In 1941 the Essential Work Order created a Merchant Navy Reserve Pool. To ensure that the seamen were avaliable to man vessels, the Government paid them to remain in the Reserve Pool when they were onshore.
