A sample of various records of Central Register of Seamen (CRS) forms included CRS 2A; CRS 3; CRS 9; CRS 39; CRS 40; CRS 52; CRS 53; CRS 55; CRS 65; CRS 119; ES 12; ES 28 AND ES 29. These forms record the discharge of a seaman from the Merchant Navy on leave and their entry into the Reserve Pool while on shore.

Administrative / biographical background
In 1941 the Essential Work Order created a Merchant Navy Reserve Pool. To ensure that the seamen were avaliable to man vessels, the Government paid them to remain in the Reserve Pool when they were ashore.
