Logbook of HMS DEVONSHIRE and HMS ESK.
Personal ‘exercise’ midshipman’s logbook with illustrations covering service in the Mediterranean in HMS DEVONSHIRE and HMS ESK. The destroyer HMS ESK was employed to enforce the Anglo-French arms blockade imposed on Spain. The ship also conveyed Spanish refugees to France. The illustrations reflect the extremely turbulent nature of international affairs, referencing the Spanish Civil War and the Italian invasion of Abyssinia.
