In-letters and orders received by the Navy Board
We lately directed you to buy the PRINCE OF WALES, a Prize Ship brought into Portsmouth by the YORK. In your letter of June 5th to our Secretary you informed us that you understand from two of your Members at that place, the Surveyor and the Clerk of the Acts, that it is their opinion the Ship will not prove a good Sailer, nor be serviceable without many chargeable alterations. We therefore direct you not to buy the Ship for their Majesties' service.
